joke joke jooooooke

so randomly i'll tell my kids some really lame jokes, just cuz i think it's hilarious to see their reaction once they realize how lame the jokes are... take, for instance, the 3 jokes - 2 short ones and 1 long one... joke joke joooooooke! if they had some rotten tomatoes they woulda thrown them at me after i told that one... but since tomatoes are expensive here they'd probably just throw rotten rice instead. pretty classic tho.

then i proceeded to tell them some korean american jokes that have a mix of the korean accent... those are hit with the kids... like what did the car say to the bread? bbang bbang! or why did the cigarette go to the ranch? marlboro... where is the best place for korean teenagers to go on vacation? haaawhyyYYYyyyyYYyy!?!? (korean kids love to ask why in a whiny complainy voice... and they tend to add "ha" in front of the why for some reason).

so these jokes are pretty money when you need to tell some jokes to get peoples attention... or maybe just to break the silence... then some kids told me some newer jokes i'd never heard before... like what is the most famous bread in the world? bread pitt! (pronounced brrread-uh pitt-uh)... or why did winnie the pooh go to kfc? pooh-ride-chicken (pronounced poo-ried-cheecken...aka pried chicken)...

the kids tend to love it when you imitate their accents too... i have a blast making fun of my students... i think the key to maintaining control over the class is to pick the most outspoken kid and just clown on him/her for the first few classes non-stop... most of the outspoken kids can take the jokes and it gets the other kids laughing and making fun of the outspoken kid too... makes the outspoken ones not as outspoken and kinda breaks the ice... the other day one of my students was explaining how instead of charcoal to bbq, sometimes they use 'OOD' for the fire... so i said huh? what's 'OOD'? and then he's like... haaa teecha... OOD! like - a- tuh-ree... OOD! so i said OH!... OOD! and ever since then it was on... just kept pickin on this kid and every other thing he said, i'd start clownin on his accent... the other kids love it... i love it... makes the day go so much faster when you can joke around with the kids...

anyway, that's my random thought of the day... have a good weekend!
