so it's been a while since my last post... what have i been up to? well, i went hiking a couple of weekends ago... and when koreans go hiking they really go hiking. i had no idea what i was in for. they'll have you climbing rocks, shuffling through the narrowest path, and wishing you hiking back home in the US... hiking back home includes nice open trails, beautiful scenery, fresh air... here, it's insane. i've never seen more rocks in my life. ever. i've never been more glad to see pavement in my life. ever. it took us a total of 3 hours to get up to the peak (twss) and then another 2.5 hours down to the subway. my legs were cramping before we even made it up to the top... what's even more embarrassing is there are these old ajumas and ajushis passing me by like it ain't no thang... with their fancy walking sticks... and here i am, in pain, legs cramping every 10 mins... iwashatingmylife.
so after that adventure, i was feeling a bit under the weather... but figured it was just a common cold... no big deal. take some vitamins, get a good nights sleep, and i'll be good... thought it was good until last weekend when i went to namisum... pretty famous place in korea to watch the leaves change... i guess they also filmed a popular drama there... anyway, went there, started coughing up a storm, and havent' been the same since. i figured with a good day or two in bed i'd be fine... but then i got the chills and then fever and every other symptom you can think of... so i decide to pony up and go to the hospital. people have made comments about how efficient korea's medical system is... i beg to differ. after stopping by 3 hospitals on monday, being turned away from all 3 because there were too many people ahead of us, i went home and figured one more night and i'll be fine. woke up today. temperature back up over 100 for the 4th day straight, decided to go to a hospital out in the cuts... figured there'd be less people there. figured wrong. i waited for an opening for a good hour... and then another hour and a half for my name to be called so they could take my temp.... then another hour and a half to speak to a doctor... and then another hour to get my tamiflu and be on my way... only to have to take the bus back home for another hour... needless to say it was a long and enduring day... and what's worse is they have you couped up in a tent with sick kids screaming and crying and coughing all over the place... if i didn't have it before, i sure as hell have it now. thanks korea.
so as i'll be at home for the next week being a hermit, and taking my meds, i should be able to update this a bit more...
