what i miss...

so i've been here for a few weeks now... and the longer i'm here, the more i'm starting to miss certain things... for instance: a clothes dryer. everything is air dried here... so once it's dried it's like stiff (twss) and then you gotta shake it out for a couple seconds to get it back to wearable status... the other thing about laundry is that when you air dry stuff, everything is bigger(twss). like all my stuff that's a size L is now like an XL. so everything is stretched out.

another thing i miss: mexican food. i went to a spot the other night with some coworkers and it's just not the same. i could really go for an el farolito carne asada and shrimp burrito. or a california burrito from el super.

pho. a bowl of pho here is 10 bucks. and it's not even good.

paper towels. koreans do not believe in paper towels. so you either sit at the hand dryer or you use toilet paper to dry your hands. i prefer using my jeans.

liquid hand soap. korean bathrooms have soap, but it's bar soap. liquid hand soap is a luxury that i miss.

public trash cans. they are a rarity in korea. i dunno how the city remains so clean. everyone is pretty mindful of their trash, and you hold onto it until you can find a trash can inside a building somewhere...

i've been told that you find you start having cravings or missing the oddest things when you're out here... i guess this is the start... we'll see what other things i add onto this list...

How about chips and salsa or Tim's Cascade? You were always a sucker for them thangs when I would bring them to you in the wee hours of the night.

so i was talking to aileen and apparently pho is positioned as "high-end" dining in korea. ridiculous! like putting lipstick on a pig. albeit a very delicious, steaming, brothy, hangover-curing pig.
