finally...

so i finally finished training. it could be described in one word. brutal. coming into this i had no idea how intense this training was and how serious these guys took this. i guess i am gonna be working for one of the top tutoring schools in korea, but yea. i had no idea. let me illustrate a typical day during our training week.

wake up at 7am. shower, breakfast, check email. 830 - bus to training center. 930 - 12. college leve reading/writing class including mock teaching sessions. 12-1 lunch. 1-330. college level listening comprehension and speaking class including mock teaching sessions. 330-445 additional training class. 5pm - subway back to hotel. 540 - grab dinner on way back to hotel. 6 - midnight. study, prep, lesson planning while drinking cup after cup of the sweetest instant coffee i ever drank in my life.

repeat.

i was seriously hating my life. like i haven't been that stressed about stuff to study since... high school? since i didn't really ever study in college. well kinda. anyway, it's been a long time. and if you know how old i am you know how many years it's been since i've been in any type of classroom setting.

anyway, after being scared i'd be coming back to the states after one freakin week of training and failing their final evaluation, i passed. barely. after training today, went and got a beer, and some taxi took me down to suwon, where i'll be teaching. they showed me my studio apt that i'll be staying in for a while, and now i'm at some pc bang trying make sense of my whereabouts and what to do next. i guess this next week i'll be acclimating to the new environment and figuring out where everything is and what i should be doing. i hope all is well back home. drink a beer or 4 for me. cheers.
