a funny moment i had the other day...

let me preface this by saying that not many people shave their heads here... except monks... and a few of the korean americans like myself... i get asked by students all the time why i cut my hair so short... my reply is that it's sexy... their response is EWWWWW.... enough said.

so, i'm two weeks into march mustache madness and it's filling in quite nicely... and the other day i decide to take a leisurely stroll down to the subway station to meet up with the gf... on the way there, i see this old asian man wearing this outfit straight out of 91... mc hammer pants with some crazy geometric print and a matching leather jacket... it was insane... so while i was walking past him, and staring at his outfit in amazement, he was doing the same with me... staring at me cuz of my shaved head and mustache, thinking, "where the hell is this monk going?"... it was like our eyes met and we were both staring at an alien in front of our faces for the first time... as soon as i passed him i just started laughing to myself cuz of the irony...

and then the other day, i was teaching a class of middle school kids who are at a level where they could probably do well in high school/college level english... and i usually make comments about how handsome i am just to get a rise out of the kids and keep them entertained/paying attention... well, after i said i was handsome the other night, one of the kids said, "teacher, you're narcissistic." i couldn't stop laughing... like where the hell did this kid learn that word and how to use it in proper context?! what the hell are we teaching these kids!?

anyway, just a couple of humorous moments that i thought i'd share with you guys... hope all is well back home...
