realizations

i think my realization for this weekend is that things seldom go as planned. coming from an event planning background, it's almost like we plan and plan and plan and try to guard and protect ourselves from the 'worst case scenario'. and i think i've adapted that with my personal life as well. like running through every possible situation in my head before anything goes down so i can prepare myself for the worst and hope for the best... probably a defense mechanism i've created for myself to prevent myself from getting hurt or disappointed... and i guess in most situations this is prob the best way to go about it, but then when it comes to relationships you kinda have to turn that mindset off and just roll with the punches, right?

so i feel like i'm a pretty good person reader... like i can get a good read on someone within the first 5 mins of talking to them. just by their words, their mannerisms, and overall 'aura' if you will. i find it pretty easy to tell if it's someone that i'd wanna hang out with and grab a beer with, or if it's someone that i'd rather just say hello to. anyhow, i think when it comes to reading others, i'm pretty decent at it. but when it comes to reading others where there's a slight interest involved, i'm clueless. i dunno why or what or how, but clueless. anyway, long story short, nothing happens the way you imagine it. and longER story shortER, sometimes you're just pleasantly surprised. and other times... ?
