yea.

so after a 9 day hiatus from work, tonight is my last free night of just hangin out... and tomorrow i finally start work...again. i'm kinda anxious about it, since tomorrow will officially be my first day teaching these little twerps... i guess we'll see how it goes... hopefully they're just scared of me from day 1 cuz i'm a gaaaaaaaaaangsta... and then i'll have some jokes with them in the weeks following. i'll keep you posted.

it's kinda wrong, but as much as i'm anxious about starting work tomorrow, i'm waaay more excited about finally getting internet at my apt! no more pc bangs (internet cafes). and i'll finally be able to ichat from home and maybe see some familiar faces via the internet. the internet seems just so much faster here than back home... i'm pretty excited.

i forgot to add a few things on my list of things i miss:

trident tropical burst gum. the gum here sucks. as most of you know, when you go to a korean joint and come out, they give you a delicious piece of gum that lasts all of 7.3 seconds before the flavor is gone and you're left wondering what the hell just happened... kinda like a 'bitchilism". i'm in the car - he's on the ground - wondering what the fark just happened. you know what's awesome tho... back home if you eat korean food, there's no way you're goin out afterwards... cuz you're smellin like garlic and your burps could burn holes in the o-zone. here? oh man. everyone goes out after eating korean food! it's pretty awesome. it's like... hey. i have kimchi and garlic breath. you have kimchi and garlic breath. we all have kimchi and garlic breath. let's kaaaaaaaaaack it.

back to the things i miss -

american television. we get about 4 english channels on tv here... they do play some good movies, and there's always bear grylls to keep entertained. but what i miss most is being able to watch episodes of lost or friday night lights online... when you're overseas they block everything on hulu and you can't watch anything even off the network streams... it's gay. so you have to download the episodes and then you can watch them... so my usual routine when i get to a pc bang is i'll check my email, then download bittorrent, and then look for torrents of new movies that i can download while i'm chillin... and then when i'm out of content to surf, i'll watch the movie and then call it a day. i'll be happy to finally have internet tho. awesome.

american phone numbers and addresses. everything is so complicated here. for instance, my phone number here is 010-6851-0712. yes. it's 1 more digit than back home. totally throws me off. and dood. let me try and verbalize my work address into english so you can understand it:

CDI
kyunggi-do suwon shi youngteong ku youngteong dong 959-4
damoa plaza 306 ho
chungdahm oh hagwon

did you get all that? didn't think so. it took me longer to read it and translate it than it did for you to just read the english version i typed up... but anyway, so most of the teachers don't even know their address's at home. they just have stuff sent to work and then they take it home from there. cuz no one knows their address cuz it takes 30 mins to write it down.

american clothing sizes. i realized when i got here that i brought white v necks, but no just plain white tees to wear around when i'm off work... i have a handful of t shirts i wear out and about (i love hearing my canadian coworkers say 'oowwt and aboowwt'. it makes me smile) but yea. it's been freakin hot here and it's gonna get hotter. i'm not too keen on buying some see-your-nips-through-your-shirt-cuz-its-so-thin kinda BYC brand shirts... prob gonna have to take a trip up to itaewon or something to find some regular white tees.

anyway, tomorrow is going to be a big day. and i promise i'll take some time and upload pictures this week.

freak. i totally forgot the whole point of this post, was to talk about walking in korea. impossible. coming from SF, we tend to walk faster than suburban folk. but here. it's just ridiculous. even in downtown seoul, if you're trying to walk, it's like people know you're trying to pass them and they'll sway over into the space you were gonna use to pass them. when you go back, they go back. it's gotta be the most frustrating thing ever. like everyone has all the time in the world to just space out(ouwwt) when walking... and your need to pass is an automatic magnet that draws them into the space you were gonna walk in. love it.

ok. bye.

God bless torrent. Though with most of the shows wrapped up for the season, there's not much to watch besides The Daily Show.
