tahoe was a blast... i'll try and recap the highlights of the trip as best as i can remember: picked up bones early friday... chilled out until the rest of the gang arrived around 12... finally left the bay around 1230 in our salt n pepper chrysler aspens... we were cruisin until we got right past auburn and into the foothills... and then the snow hit hard... i think we averaged about 25mph for the rest of the 85+ miles to the cabin... at one point the wipers had mud icicles frozen to them and were smearing frozen dirt ice all over the windshield... even with clean wipers you couldn't see 50 ft in front of you... meanwhile most were passed out in my car... so i was jammin to some old school slow jams.... and hating my life.
we arrived around 5am... got settled... and took a 1.5 hour nap... got up and hit the slopes... by far one of the best days ever... knee deep powder everywhere... i was in love... some were not so much. after a long day of riding (twss) we went back to the cabin... showered up... and went out on the town for some sushi and sake bombs... i was already pretty bussssst by the time we left the cabin, so the whole meal and any convo's that took place at dinner kinda went right over my head (twhs). what i do know, is that smalls and kas had some pretty nice mustaches... i have the pix to prove it. after that we went to the casinos and spent some time there... i hit a jackpot on the 25 cent slots... ended up winning 30 bucks! in quarters! i went and cashed out. and then my dumb ass went and spent that 30 bucks playing(losing) blackjack. at least i was there to coach nicole, who ended up doubling her money... ihatemylife.
sunday we went to squaw... it was dumping snow like crazy... total white out conditions... couldn't see 5 ft in front of you... everyone was pretty tired from the day before and it was miserable trying to ride in the blizzard, so we decided to call it quits after a few hours... went back to the cabin where we tried to watch the all star game and then started playing kings cup while dan and bones cooked up dinner...
best rule ever: you have to sing every thing you say.
best rhyme ever: couch/douch.
best category ever: mexican names
we did better on the second night... most of us lasted until about 1 or 130 before passing out. i started a fire earlier in the evening so i curled up close to the fireplace to keep warm on an otherwise freezing floor... fire went out around 3am and i was freezing my ass off the rest of the night... only to realize the sliding door was cracked open about 3 inches... ihatemylife.
we got up monday morning around 8 or so... cooked up some breakfast and packed up... got in our rides and slowly made our way back to the bay... as soon as we got on the freeway it was like LA traffic but in the mountains... we would go about 10 ft... stop.... go another 10 ft... stop... ridiculous... lisa had enough time to hop out of geoff's car and come talk to us while we were sitting there... got some snacks from the back of our car... gave us a walkie talkie that had no batteries left.. and went back on her way... it took us about 2 hours to get through that traffic and into smooth sailing... until we hit sacramento... ihatemylife.
so we decided to stop at sonics to get some good old fattening drive in food... most of the seattle folk have never had sonic... i gave kas and kenny a quick run through of what/how to order... every burger or sandwich - you get it on toaster bread... you swap out your fries for chili cheese tots... and you get a strawberry lime-ade to wash it all down... kenny did work... he got a double cheeseburger on toaster bread and added bacon and jalapenos with chili cheese tots... and that wasn't enough... he ate most of kas's second burger as well. food coma was a biatch.... ihatedmylife.
we dropped off bones in oakland and headed back to the city... chilled out for a minute then went and ate again. hard knox cafe. a soul food joint run by vietnamese peeps... one word: money. had a good meal and a couple beers, recapping our weekend and everything we learned...
went and dropped off the rest of the gang at sfo and said our bittersweet goodbyes...
i took some pix... if you'd like to check them out, here's the link...
